Zimbabwe soldiers face trial over priest's assault

Four Zimbabwean soldiers accused of beating up a German Jesuit priest, the Rev. Wolfgang Thamm, have been told to appear for trial on assault charges, reports Ecumenical News International.

The soldiers, who are based at the Zimbabwe National Army's mechanised battalion in Darwendale, about 100 kilometres northwest of Harare, were not asked to plead when they appeared in court on 3 February. They were freed on bail but told they must appear for trial on 14 March.
